PDP urges Nigerians to follow God’s way

By Henry Umoru
AS Muslims across  the country celebrate this year’s Eid El-Kabir, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said that in the spirit of the festival, Nigerians must resist all vices that seek to weaken and tear the country apart.

In a statement signed yesterday by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the  Party also charged Nigerians to use the occasion  to reflect on the virtue of faith and total submission to the will of the Almighty God as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim who was willing to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael in obedience to God’s command.

According to Metuh in the goodwill message, the  Eid El-Kabir grants Nigerians a great opportunity to rededicate themselves to God by rekindling the spirit of sacrifice, patience and love.

He said, “Indeed, the Eid El-Kabir teaches great lessons in faith in the Almighty God who, in His infinite wisdom destined Nigeria as one united,  indivisible and prosperous nation where the welfare, freedom and happiness of all citizens are guaranteed.

“We therefore urge all Nigerians to keep hope alive, pray and work towards the greatness of our dear nation. We must rededicate ourselves to the values that unite and strengthen us as a people and resist all vices that seek to weaken and tear us apart.”

The PDP  however reiterates its commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria, just as it  assured that it will not only remain steadfast to guaranteeing a free and democratic society in which the powers and actions of government are lawful, but also a nation where the welfare and prosperity of the people are assured through sound policies and rapid infrastructural development in line with its ideology and visions of its founding fathers.

The party wished all Nigerians a happy Eid El- Kabir while urging everyone to continue to consider the less-privileged at all times.
