Afcon 2015 qualifiers: Ejide banks on players’ club form to see Eagles through

Super Eagles second choice keeper, Austin Ejide believes that the national team will scale through the qualification hurdles for the 2015 Nations Cup based on the form exhibited by the players invited by Coach Stephen Keshi, in their various clubs.

The Super Eagles are walking on a tight rope and they need to win their next games against Congo Brazzaville and South Africa’s to stand a choice of defending the trophy they won in 2013.

The Israel-based Ejide said that the players being regulars with their clubs were a plus for the Eagles, adding that with the support of the fans the mission of qualifying for the tournament will be possible.

“The good thing is that the players of the team are getting regular play time with their various clubs. I’m happy with the progress of the team thus far, even against Sudan.

“I really hope that we’ll see such consistency even from the fans as we prepare for Congo and on our return home to Uyo against South Africa,” Ejide told footballlive.ng.

The Eagles will visit Congo on November 15 and three days later face the Bafana Bafana at the newly commissioned Akwa Ibom Stadium. The Eagles are currently on four points, Congo are on seven points, while South Africa leads the group with eight points.

The Eagles lost their home game to Congo, while they drew 0-0 in Cape Town.
