Bishop cautions politicians against thuggery, violence

OWERRI—Ahead of 2015 general elections, politicians have been urged to resist the temptation of throwing the country into chaos.

Bishop of Egbu Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey E. Okorafor, who spoke at Zion Anglican Church, Okpala, Ngor Okpala Local Council area of Imo State, while delivering his presidential address at the first session, seventh synod, specifically warned against rancour, unguarded utterances, threats, thuggery, rigging, killing, maiming and other forms of violence.

“One cannot understand why a political aspirant, at any level of his aspiration, should mobilize innocent Nigerian youths as thugs and arm them with dangerous weapons, probably to confront or even kill fellow Nigerians, during campaigns and elections”, Bishop Okorafor said.
