ADAMAWA: Four contenders fight for party ticket

By  Umar Yusuf
SENATOR BINDOW MOHAMMED UMAR JIBRILLA: Presently the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District won the primaries for the aborted October 11th bye-election. Bindow is the deputy Chairman of Senate Committee on Defence and is expected to repeat the feat he achieved during the aborted re-run election.

The senator commands a lot of respect as far as the 2015 general election is concerned. He has every hope of scaling through in the primaries.

CHIEF KOBIS ARI THIMNU: The immediate past Secretary to the State Government in the Nyako regime is another good contender.

A technocrat to the core, Kobis has criss-crossed the entire state seeking for the votes of delegates. He has a lot of followership despite the fact that he came into the race much later than others. The former employee of the Defence Industry Corporation, DIC Kaduna, where he spent close to 23 years, he has enough resources to prosecute the primaries.

IBRAHIM MIJINYAWA YAYAJI: He is the governorship aspirant allegedly sponsored by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku’s influence in Adamawa politics may give him an edge over the other aspirants. It is, however, remembered that he lost to Jibrilla in the primaries for the aborted October 11 bye election. Yayaji, a former chairman Yola North North Local Government has his own supporters and may use his grassroots support to clinch the APC ticket.

TAHIR MAMMAN: A lawyer by profession, he is the former Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus and came into the race last. Though a new comer, he may surprise other contenders for the governorship slot.
