BENIN—ALL Progressives Congress, APC, Youth Vanguard in Delta State has vowed to resist alleged moves by the leadership of the party to remove the name of Mr. Anigboro George, who it said won the party’s primaries to represent Ethiope federal constituency in the House of Representatives and substitute him with that of Solomon Edojah, who recently defected to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The group, in a statement in Benin, Edo State, by Mr. Charles Irikefe, insisted that George was elected by consensus to represent Ethiope federal constituency and fly the flag of the party in the February, 2015 general elections.
He said that the group was taken aback when it heard that the State Working Committee of the party, had perfected plans to substitute George’s name with that of Edojah, who had defected to the APC.
The group’s spokesman disclosed that the move was discovered when the leadership of the party refused to submit the elected candidate’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Form, an indication that they were trying to substitute his name with that of another person.
Saying that although they believed in the supremacy of the party, they will not however, close their eyes and allow the substitution, adding that justice must be done as the mandate given to George belongs to the people.
