CALABAR—SEVEN members of Cross River State House of Assembly, who contested the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries on Saturday seeking re-election to the House in 2015 lost their bid with some losing to relatively unknown opponents
Those who were denied tickets by their party members include Agbiji Mbe Agbiji representing Ikom 1, whose efforts to return to the House for a record third term failed as Mr Fred Osim, the Special Adviser to Senator Imoke on Political Matters was handed the ticket in his stead.
Jake Enya, Boki 11 who was also seeking a third term, was also denied a ticket as he was defeated by Hilary Bisong, the Special Assistant to the governor Imoke on Student Matters. Itaya Nyong, representing Akamkpa 11 lost his ticket to Matthew Olory while Ernest Eki Boki 1 was shoved aside and his ticket handed over to Dr Itam Abang.
Others who lost their bid to return to the House include Ngim Okpo of Biase state constituency and Patrick Uguge who represents Ogoja state constituency, who lost to Peter Odey in the keenly contested race.
Apart from Obudu where the race between the incumbent, Stephen Ikpekpen and Gody Akwaji for the Obudu state constituency ticket ended in confusion, Vanguard gathered that the primaries were peaceful.
