Thousands of Rivers State women, yesterday, unanimously endorsed the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate and his deputy, Nyesom Wike/Ipalibo Harry-Banigo ticket, giving the team the mandate to revive the state.
The women who participated in the women rally for Wike-Banigo, said that the state will be transformed when the team assumes leadership on May 29, 2015.
Speaking at the rally, Rivers State deputy governorship candidate, Dr. Harry-Banigo, assured Rivers women that the incoming PDP administration will reposition the state for the benefit of all residents.
Banigo said that the incoming administration will ensure the welfare of women across the state.
She said that their administration will not disappoint Rivers women as it was committed to changing the fortunes of the state.
According to her, the future of Rivers women was embedded in PDP as the opposition party has no place for women in its framework.
She said: “I urge Rivers women not to have anything to do with the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the party has no consideration for women in its ranks. The future of Rivers women is embedded in PDP as the party has made a woman the deputy governor hopeful and a key participant in the decision making process of the state.”
