Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has warned that the delay in naming a coach for the senior team was undermining the progress of the three-time African champions.
Eagles have been without a coach since July last year, when the contract of Stephen Keshi elapsed, with the Nigeria Football Federation seemingly reluctant to renew the deal with the former Eagles captain, who was a fortnight back given an offer, which he later termed “a slave contract”.

It has been nine long months that the Eagles have been without a coach and with the qualifying race for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations fast approaching, Chukwu, the first Nigerian to lift the AFCON trophy in 1980 told Sports Vanguard in Nnewi, venue of the Premier League match between Ifeanyii Uba Fc and Rangers, that the NFF should, for once, be decisive and name a coach for the team without further delay.
“I am very much worried with the prolonged search for a coach for the Super Eagles, which I think should have been a straight-forward thing for the NFF to do. But I am surprised and shocked that we are still talking about searching for a coach, when what we should be talking is the work being done by the coach.
“Nobody needs to be told that a team without a coach cannot function well and when the results that come in, you cannot blame the team, without a coach.
