Friendly: Uganda replace Bolivia

Hot Contest... Zambia’s Emmanuel Mbola, (left) battles it out with Yusuf Mohammed during the quarter-finals of the 2010 Nation Cup in Angola. Zambia is going to the 2012, but Nigeria is not, but both teams will slug it out in a friendly this evening

Following the withdrawal of Bolivia from the planned March 26 international friendly with Nigeria, after citing “tense political situation” in the country, the Super Eagles will now play Uganda on that day in Uyo

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the Uganda friendly on their Twitter handle yesterday. Both Uganda and Nigeria will use this match to prepare for the qualifying tournament for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Both of them failed to qualify for the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria beat the Cranes of Uganda 1-0 in their last meeting in Abeokuta in 2007. Officials have also disclosed they have asked for compensation from Bolivia for their last-minute withdrawal from a planned friendly in Uyo. Nigerian presidential elections are fixed for March 28 amid growing fears of violence
