ABUJA—MANAGING Director of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, Munir Abubakar, weekend, cleared the air on the promotion scandal rocking the Fund.
According to him, every promotion is guided by the federal character policy.
The board and management had been accused of favouritism in promotion by a section of the workers, a development that brought bad blood among the old and new staff, which generated unhealthy environment in the organisation.
But the Managing Director denied any form of favouritism in promotion of workers in NSITF and rather said that every worker was treated fairly according to the rules.
Fielding questions on the alleged scandal after receiving an award on behalf of the Fund from a coalition of 40 Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, in Abuja, Abubakar said promotion of staff was always done in strict compliance with the principle of federal character, equity and fairness.
He said: “Our promotion is executed based on government policy, which means we are guided by federal character, if we don’t, we would answer to the National Assembly.
‘’It is possible some people have some grudges, but in everything we do, we ensure equity, we must ensure balance.”
He also denied the allegation of usurpation of management powers by the board, although, he acknowledged that it was not possible to satisfy all the staff in promotion exercise.
