Imo temporarily shut down for election

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA, OWERRI.
Imo State was temporarily shut down for today’s supplementary election. Movements were restricted by security personnel ensuring that people respect the restriction of movement order.

Vanguard witnessed a mild drama at the Fire Service Roundabout, Owerri, this morning. The biological and God-parents of a newly baptized baby was stopped by the security personnel at this roundabout and almost prevented them from going home. The security personnel manning this point slammed a N2,000 bill on the family but eventually, they parted with N500 before being allowed to leave for their home.

Accreditation started a little behind schedule at Omuma, Oru East local government area, which is one of flash points for the supplementary elections in Imo State. Accreditation started at about 8.30am. The area has a voting strength of about 40,000.
