Wahid Enitan-Oshodi, President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has been elected into the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation (CTTF).
A statement by NTTF on Monday said Enitan-Oshodi’s election was for his role in reviving the fortunes of table tennis and the crucial role that Nigeria played in promoting the sport.
It said that he was elected into the board of directors of CTTF on April 26 in Suzhou, China.
The statement added that Oshodi joined South Africa’s Audrina Mcdonald, who is the treasurer CTTF as the second African member of the federation.
The statement noted that the board, the highest ruling body in charge of table tennis in the Commonwealth nations was made up of 12 members and chaired by England’s Alan Ransome.
It said that India was awarded the hosting right of 2015 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships expected to hold in Gujrat from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1.
The statement said that prior to the election; Oshodi was also a member of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Nomination Committee.
“For Oshodi, this election has also confirmed the relevance of Nigeria among the Commonwealth nations and this is another call to serve.
Meanwhile, the ITTF has commended Nigeria for the giant stride the country has made in recent times especially in their efforts to promote the game globally.
