2015: Group vows to mobilize support for party that fields Igbo in Lagos

By Nkiruka Nnorom

Lagos—Ndigbo United Association, NAU, has vowed to mobilize maximum support for any political party that will concede substantial elective political positions to Igbos resident in Lagos in the 2015 general election.

The group has also endorsed the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate in 2015 presidential election, saying the endorsement of Jonathan was taken based on his achievements in all spheres of governance in the country, especially his contribution towards moving the Igbo nation forward.

At a briefing in Lagos, president of NAU, Chief Anselm Njoku, said the decision to partner with any political in Lagos that would cede more power to the Igbos became necessary because the easterners had contributed immensely in championing several developmental projects in Lagos and boosting the state’s internal generated revenue.

He said “We hereby call on all Igbo sons and daughters in Lagos to come out en-masse to register and revalidate their voters’ cards during the forthcoming Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, review of voters’ register.”
