KANO – A frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governorship aspirant in Katsina, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi Tsauri has vowed not bow before Governor Ibrahim Shema for him to clinch the party ticket.
Tsauri told Sunday Vanguard in an exclusive chat that the party stand the risk of losing the governorship seat in 2015 if he is deny the ticket, stressing that the PDP has the option of either giving him the ticket and win or allow him leave and lose the governorship seat. 
Tsauri who spoke against the backdrop of hostilities between the incumbent Governor and the aspirant culminating to denial of space and clash between the police and his supporters penultimate Saturday declared that no amount of threat or intimidation will prevent him from pursuing his legitimate ambition.
Tsauri often refers to as ‘Tata Mai’dubu Dubu’ by his followers revealed that his decision to contest the gubernatorial election under the platform of PDP was borne out of his commitment to promote peace, unity and development in Katsina state.
” PDP has a choice either to pick me, win election or let me go and lose election. Shema cannot win election everybody knows that, between these choices, whichever they chose will affect Shema. Shema political calculations about his survival after he leaves office is such that informed this open hatred. If I am to leave PDP for another party the hatred will reduce, even though APC has offered me ticket but I refused. ”
‘Tsauri said ’My intention to contest the position is borne out of my desire and commitment to bring the desired change and ensure human development’’.
Shedding light on the cladh with police penultimate week Tsauri said he got the permission from the police to conduct the formal declaration but he was surprised to hear the withdrawal of the permission over the radio.
He alleged that his disagreement with the incumbent governor Ibrahim Shema revolved around the issue of loyalty not his capability to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Katsina state.
” Ibrahim Shema believes poverty breeds obedience, it is only when people are poor that he can be guarantee of their loyalty and he saw me trying to remove the shackles off them and by that I’m encouraging disobedience against him and his government, which is not my intention.”
Tata accused Governor Shema of trying to scuttle his ambition and ensure that by all means he does not scale through.
‘’What happened in Katsina was a clear attempt by some people who do not wish me well’’, he said.
The governorship aspirant who urged the people of the state not to be deterred by what happened last Saturday called on them to continue to give him the necessary support to ensure his victory at the polls.
