According to him, “we have a lot to share, learn and exchange from each other and it is our desire for the relationship to be fostered”.

Going down memory lane, the Minister noted that German nationals have been assisting Nigeria in managing our national team and setting up of the Nigeria Institute of Sport.  He further said that in sports facilities, German companies have been at the forefront of building and maintaining stadia for the country.  He cited the National Stadium, Abuja and the newly opened Uyo Stadium, Akwa Ibom State as examples.

Speaking earlier, His Excellency, Mr. Zenner said that the first facility that caught his eyes from the Abuja airport was the beautiful stadium.  He praised the Nigerian government for the insight in establishing such edifice.

He informed the Minister that the visit was to seek intensive exchange and cooperation of Nigerian government in areas of sports.  He said “sports is very important because relationship between two countries should not only be in politics and business but a relationship to learn from each other and I think sports is the best element and instrument to meet people and understand each other better.”
