OLOROGUN Jaro Movudu Egbo is of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP stock in Delta State. He has been in politics since 1998 till date.
Egbo, who hails from Uduere-Ughelli and Ekrerhavwen-Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State is aspiring to represent the Ughelli North constituency II, in the House Of Assembly
Excerpts:
On what informed his decision to run for the State House of Assembly, he said; “the decision to run for the House of Assembly is informed by the desire to serve my people. I believe that our constituency, consisting of the Kingdoms of Agbarho, Ughelli and Uwheru which is a size of or bigger than some Senatorial Districts in Bayalsa and other northern states is grossly under represented.
On the unique things he intends to do if elected, he said; “You see, people are agitating that the impact of the legislators are not being felt outside Ughelli; precisely Agbarho and Uwheru because people back in Ughelli here believe that those other people are not part of the constituency. I think I will turn it round.
And I will achieve that by doing quarterly town hall meetings. I will start with Agbarho, Uwheru and then Ughelli. I should be able to ask the Agbarho constituents, what your needs are; what do you desire and what are the things that you require; those are the things that I will take to Asaba.
When preparing the budget it is what they tell me that I will put in there for them in the budget.
Peradventure if there are laws that are not working well, I will also reflect it by way of motion or by way of private member bill. If you have an effective constituency office and you have constituents officers, one for Agbarho, one for Uwheru and one for Ughelli, they can bring their complaints.
On some of the projects he intends to influence to the area, he said; “I remember when I was in NDDC, we were able to influence some township roads and the roads were done the way that is not satisfactory, and if you drive to Agbarho during the rainy season, you will see flood everywhere despite the heavy dredging that is going on everywhere. There is no link between the drainage and the rivers or stream that is flowing. So I think the issue of drainage is what we are going to contend with in Agbarho. Agbarho has become an urban center because of the influx of people from Warri, Effurun and the neighbouring areas.
On his assessment of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, he said; “the new word now is that he is finishing strong. The evidence of finishing strong is everywhere. You see our airport, you see our health institutions, you see our schools, then recently our roads; you see flyovers, another airport is now springing up in Warri.
