ABUJA — Senate President, David Mark, has urged Nigerians to unite against the security challenges facing the country, especially the onslaught on innocent Nigerians by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, saying that evil people should not be allowed to triumph.
Senator Mark said that the activities of Boko Haram clearly showed that they do not represent anything good or religious inclination but purely extremist pursuing anti-people agenda.
Addressing the congregation at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Otada near Otukpo, Benue State to mark the last Sunday of 2014, he pleaded with the perpetrators of violence and killings to give peace a chance.
According to him, what Nigerians earnestly desired now was peace, love and unity to heal the wounds inflicted on them by Boko Haram insurgents.
The Senate president implored all Nigerians to resort to prayers against forces of evil, saying, “we must not allow the evil doers to succeed . With prayers God will put them to shame.”
He noted that the issue of security was not a matter for politics but an issue that demanded cooperation and action to tackle.
Speaking in his sermon, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ode, urged Nigerians irrespective of faith to resort to prayers as the potential weapon to end insurgency and terrorism ravaging the land.
