My Papal knighthood exceptional —Obi

By Vincent Ujumadu

Awka—Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday, described his investiture as a Papal Knight of St. Sylvester, KSS, by the Catholic Church as something exceptional because such an honour by the Pope was usually bestowed on people above 55 years.

Obi, 53, was made KSS by Pope Francis in July this year, following recommendation by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, for his excellent performance as governor of the state.

At a well attended investiture at the magnificent St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka, during which President Goodluck Jonathan was represented by his Special Adviser on Inter Party Affairs, Senator Ndii Obi, Mr Obi said that the decision by the Pope to make him a Papal Knight came to him as a surprise.
