UPN tackles Fasheun over comment on PDP

ABEOKUTA—The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) yesterday, tackled the founder of Oodua  People’s Congress, Dr. Frederick  Fasheun  over his plan to merge the party with the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the coming elections.

The  party also rejected  the current list of candidates purportedly released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the forthcoming general elections where its name and candidates were omitted.

The Ogun state chairman of the party, Prince Shoye Oyenuga  and  the governorship candidate, Prince Rotimi Paseda  stated these  at a press conference  and formal presentation of the party’s candidates for the elections held  in Omu-Ijebu, in Odogboolu local  government area of the state,  the   homestead of the party’s  governorship candidate.

The party while reacting to the claim by Fasheun insisted that the UPN would field its Presidential  candidate and not merge with any party including the ruling PDP.
