The Cross River State Football Association Electoral Committee has screened out leading contenders for the posts of the chairman and vice chairman, Ekpenyong Ene-Itta and Etta Egbe on the premise that they brought tax clearance certificates from outside of Cross River State.
Ene-Ita, former Team Manager of defunct Nitel Football Club of Lagos submitted a Tax Clearance certificate from Lagos, his state of residence while Etta Egbe submitted his from the Federal Capital Territory.
The screening committee saw this as a violation of the requirements for those contesting as they insisted aspirants must get their tax clearance from the state.
“I called Barrister Green of the NFF and he faulted the screening committee saying that we are all one Nigeria. A tax clearance could come from any state in as much as it is the same Nigeria,” Etta Egbe told our reporter, last night.
