Denounce provocative utterances, Onaiyekan tells political leaders

By Caleb Ayansina

ABUJA — The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has called on political leaders to publicly denounce provocative utterances made by their supporters.

According to him, it will give an impression that those making the terrible statements are acting on the instruction of their leaders.

Onaiyekan stated this while speaking at the National Peace Committee for the 2015 elections meeting with representatives of different political parties in Abuja.

He said: “To leaders of political parties, we still want to hear more from the leaders denouncing utterances that are contrary to the spirit and letter of the accord, by your supporters.”
