Jos – Impressive turnout are seen in most polling units across local government areas in Plateau North and Plateau Central zones of the state.
Card readers were generally functioning well as complains had during the March, 28th were not witnessed in all polling units visited and electorate were queuing orderly for the accreditation.
Commenting on the exercise, Chairmen of Kanke and Pankshin local government areas, Mssrs. Ishaku Gotau and Samuel Go’ar expressed happiness at the orderly manner the electorate conducted themselves.
Speaking at his Jwangwat polling unit, Mr. Gotau said, “This election has been prepared for months ago. We have 1,900 registered voters here, the turn out is impressive and the card readers are functioning well.
“I urge my people to continue to conduct themselves responsibly and vote according to their conscience. President Jonathan acted responsibly and saved this country from collapsing, we should emulate his conduct.”
At Vel 2 polling unit in Pankshin local government, the Council Chairman, Samuel Go’ar urged the people to be peaceful as the Presiding Officer, Opebiyi Adeniyi disclosed there were only 700 ballot papers given to the unit which has 818 registered voters.
Go’ar appealed for calm saying will be disenfranchised as more ballot papers will be brought before the boting ended. He appreciated the orderly conducted exhibited during the Presidential and National Assembly polls and called for a repeat of such conduct.
