Warri Wolves have dedicated qualification to the second round of CAF Confederation Cup to the club’s general manager Davidson Owumi.
Wolves held Dedebit in Ethiopia to a goalless draw on Sunday to progress in the competition on aggregate having won the first leg in Warri 2-0.
They will now tackle MK Etancheite of DR Congo for a place in the money-spinning group phase of the competition.
Midfielder Ichul Lordson said their latest result was a birthday gift to top official Owumi, who celebrated his birthday on Saturday and requested the team to give him a befitting gift by qualifying to the next stage.
“It was not an easy game but we thank God for the outcome of the game,” said Lordson.
“This was a special birthday present to our general manager Davidson Owumi. He told us during the pre-match talk that we should give him a birthday present with a positive result to complete his celebration, that we have done. –
“Our qualification was also a special Easter gift to the team’s fans and Nigerians as a whole. “
