APC slams Delta govt over burning of 300 motorcycles

All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State chapter, has condemned the burning of 300 motorcycles by the state government. It noted that the development which was hinged on the state government’s ban on commercial motorcycles, was not in the interest of the people who voted the government to power.

Prophet Jones Erue, state chairman of APC, lamented that the motorcycle ban policy by the state government would further impoverish the poor in the state, saying that a policy without an alternative means of livelihood was detrimental of the people.

Erue said: “On October 4, 2014, about three hundred commercial motorcycles popularly known as okada were confiscated in Sapele by the Delta State Directorate of Transport in line with the state government’s ban on the use of commercial motorcycles in Ika South, North and Sapele local government areas of the state and later burnt.”
