I’m not scared of a starting shirt – Uduak

BY JUDE OPARA, Abuja
Super Eagles new invitee Emem Uduak says he will not be frightened if Coach Stephen Keshi hands him a starting shirt in the all important 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan this weekend.

The Dolphins of Port Harcourt forward who was invited to replace injured Stoke City of England winger, Victor Moses for the two-legged encounter said even as he is yet to play for a foreign club, he has what it takes to play on the big stage like the AFCON qualifiers.

He further argued that haven played in the highly competitive Nigerian league coupled with his involvement in the National U—20 team that participated in the 2013 World Youth Championship (WYC) in Turkey, he knows what it takes to play in an international match.

Uduak also used the opportunity to thank Coach Stephen Keshi for giving home based players the chance to play for the national team.

“To start with I have to thank Coach Stephen Keshi for the opportunity given to some of us who are playing at home to be part of the national team. As for the game in Sudan we will give it all we have. Let me also say it that if given the starting shirt I will cope because it is the same football that we have been playing.

“Again I was at the last Flying Eagles team that participated in the 2013 World Youth Championship in Turkey and I played in that tournament so I believe that I can do my best even as I know that the coach has the final decision on who plays”.

He equally reacted to the decision of the Sudanese authorities to host the match on an artificial turf saying the Super Eagles knowing the need to win the match will take the fight to their opponents no matter where they take the game to.
